Bracken nodded, resting the stack of papers on the seat of the chair and hefting it up. "Let's look for a way onto the roof," he suggested. If they wanted to cook food, they wouldn't want to do it inside. He led the way out of that particular office complex and came out into a hallway, lined with doors with an elevator at one end and an emergency ladder at the other. There was a corpse, sitting down against the wall, it's head on it's knees. He put down the chair, pulled down his sledgehammer, and delivered a powerful sideways shot on the corpse's head. It's neck snapped disgustingly as he did so, splattering blood up against the wall and soaking a puddle into the carpet. He didn't know if it had been a zombie, or he had just disturbed an innocent man's corpse. But he didn't care; better safe than sorry.

Amelia nodded following. Once he'd hit the corpse she looked up at him. "Are there others do you think?" (( Sorry for lame post. xD ))

(( You're fine! X3 ))
Bracken started climbing up the emergency ladder, hefting the chair under his arm. "Other what?" he asked over his shoulder as he pushed the chair onto the roof, scattering papers around. He climbed up, glad to have some fresh air. He tossed the chair over to another part of the roof, then gathered up the papers so they could make a fire.

Amelia shrugged. "Guess it doesn't matter if we are up here." Amelia Pulled her knife from her leather boot and sat down to skin the cat. "Gonna roast us a cat. Do you remember a time when we would've turned our noses up at anyone who ate a cat?" Amelia sighed. It was really sad how far humanity had come since the Stone Age only to almost completely fall because of germs. She huffed a breath, the depressing thoughts threatening to overwhelm her. Her heart hurt just at the thought. If they could only find the cure, maybe they could help return Humanity to its former glory. The improbability of her thoughts only hurt her more.

Bracken sighed with sadness at the thought, but grinned a little after a moment. "In some places eating cats has always been a delicacy," he pointed out. He walked over and grabbed the matches, crouching over beside the stack of papers. He picked some up and crumpled them, making a separate pile. Then he placed the wooden chair on top, completing the set up. It wasn't anything much, but it would be enough to keep them warm, as well as cook their meal. He took the matches and struck them against the ground. He dropped it on the crumpled papers, causing them to catch. He sat back, slipping his bag off his shoulders and setting his sledgehammer to the side. He pulled his knees up to his chest, looking over to the setting sun. It was just disappearing over the trees of the forest, beginning to drop a cloak of shadow over the city. "So you-uh, you have a place?" he asked curiously, his eyes off in the horizon.

"I've been searching for the cure. I sleep wherever I think is safe at the time. So not really. I like to think of it as having several places though." She shrugged, holding the skinned cat up to examine. "The muscles are strong and healthy. She'll make a good meal." Amelia laid her jacket down on the ground and put the cat on top of it. It'd be best to keep as clean as possible. With their tiny supply of Aspirin, they couldn't afford to get some kind of random virus or bacterial infection.

Bracken looked at her when she mentioned the cure, then shook his head sadly as he turned toward the fire. "There is no cure," he mumbled, a mixture of sadness and crossness in his voice. He had been searching for it for quite a long time, but had no hope. It wasn't like it would just be sitting around in a random building, it would be in some kind of secret facility. That requires electricity to run. Not to mention it would be difficult to locate. He couldn't help but agree with her thoughts on the cat, though. His mouth was already watering.

She smiled trying to lighten the mood. "Leg, leg, leg or leg?" She laughed, mostly to herself. "The back ones will be meatier than the front ones." She warned him. She grinned at the memories of country-fried chicken on Sunday nights in her house. Stereotypical southerners they may have been, but they were happy. She sighed, her heart feeling heavy. She wanted things to go back. She wanted to turn back time and live in those last days of her normal life.

Bracken looked over, grinning at the cat. "I guess we could split; We both take a front, we both take a back," he suggested. It was such a lucky find, for them to be able to find a cat. Ever since the apocalypse, his sense of taste weakened, so food seemed to taste better. Eating a stick of beef jerky was like taking a bite out of heaven. So eating a cat would be like a thanksgiving turkey. "Don't forget to keep the fur," he added. He figured it might be nice to have when winter rolled around.
(( I'll be right there! ))

Amelia grinned. She handed him two legs- a back and a front. Hold it by the foot to cook it." She grinned. She actually had quite a surprise for him in her backpack, if he was still hungry at all after this cat. "if you're good-" She was teasing him now. "You can have a tasty dessert after dinner Ala pussy cat." She laughed, a smile spreading across her rose pink lips.

Bracken held the leg into the fire, glancing over at her. "'If I'm good'?" he asked with a playful grin. "What k-kind of dessert are you t-talking about?" he asked, interest lighting up into eyes. He was glad to have someone with him; he had felt that he was going insane after being alone for so long.

Amelia held her leg in the fire as well smiling. "Its good. Filled with cream and they like never go bad." She grinned, relieved to not have to spend another night alone.

(( Oh no, I know what it is... ))
Bracken gave her an interested look before looking back at the fire, deciding to rotate the leg a little so it would cook the other side as well. In his mind he was picturing cream donuts, or maybe some kind of jelly-filled candy. "Sounds good to me," he chuckled.

(( xD Haha they always survive Apocalypses! xD ))
Amelia turned hers over too, grinning. "It'll be a nice change. They were popular in their day." She pushed the leg in a bit further in order to cook as much of the meat as she could. "Mmmmm....It smells great." Her mouth watered at the scent, wanting so bad to pull the leg out whether it was done or not. Last thing they needed was to get sick though.
